Palm Canyon Epic Day Trip.jpg

Palm Canyon Epic Day Trip

December 14, 2019

One of Southern California’s classics, the Palm Canyon Epic, is also one the toughest at 28 miles of a desert landscape and 2000’ of elevation gain and brutal with its chunky technical rock gardens with exposure, cactus at every turn and deep sand to test your soul. But it’s also one of the most rewarding if you like fun, technical, and 6000’ of descending on this point to point ride that starts at 4500’ of elevation and ends in Palm Springs. The route is several trails from Palm Canyon, Indian Potrero, Dry Wash, Hahn Buena Vista and will challenge your fitness.

thinkMTB will organized a shuttle ride. There will be a per person charge. We will find a convenient spot for the shuttle to pick us all up to start our day and pick us up near the end point to bring us back to our vehicles.

*Link to trail info below. MTB Project link does not reflect the entire 28 miles required to complete the ride.

24 Hours in the Old Pueblo

February 14 - 16, 2020

Another Epic Rides classic.
Looking to get in a team or two.
4-person team - 24 hour race
Course is fairly easy, although surrounded by cactus.
Probably do 4 laps each.
This a FUN event and everybody gets to camp in the middle of the desert, except for the van people ;-)

Registration opens October 1st and sells out almost immediately.

Sea Otter Classic & Santa Cruz Flow Trail

April 15 - 20, 2020

The Sea Otter Classic is the world’s premier and the biggest cycling festival featuring professional and bike athletes. The event is held annually in Monterey, California, USA and features hundreds of exhibitors, demos, kids activities, gran fondos and tours. The three day event will be held from 15th to 19th April 2020, combining competition events, the festival and recreational biking.

Camping is available at the festival grounds. Check registration sites for availability. A group of us already have camp sites that you can post up at during the day if you plan to hotel it in Monterey, CA.

We'll attend the festival each day, take advantage of all the exclusive vendor discounts, services, freebies and tent parties. There are races to enter, bike events to spectate and trails to ride from the venue.

On the last day, April 19th, we'll drive from Sea Otter Classic up to the Santa Cruz mountains to ride the Flow Trail and post up for the night somewhere around Santa Cruz.

The Whiskey Off-Road

April 23 - 26, 2020

Ride the Whiskey Off-Road: choose from three different distance options (15, 30 or 50 miles), each crafted from a carefully-curated set of trails in Prescott, AZ.

The team will travel on Thursday, April 23rd to Prescott, AZ. We'll pre-ride segments of the course as a group on Friday, April 24th then we'll ride the event on Saturday April 25th. The event ends in the center of town where we'll all convene and celebrate at the event after-party in the park that afternoon. The evening of the 25th we'll host a team party and dinner at a shared accommodation the team will rent in town. A few of us will be camping each night in the hills above Prescott. Everyone plans to depart on Sunday, April 26th to head back home or to some other adventure!
